While soaking in the bath is a fabulous way to pamper yourself after a hard day, adding Dead Sea salt is really going to enhance the benefits to your skin, muscles, and joints. Dead Sea salt is ten times saltier than any other sea which means it’s bursting with more calcium, magnesium, potassium and bromide. These miracle minerals help to fight against ageing skin, reduce fine lines and even smooth the skin’s overall texture and appearance. Not only does Dead Sea salt hydrate the skin, it exfoliates dead skin cells which allows new cells to regenerate. That’s why this all-in-one skincare ingredient has been used for thousands of years to cleanse, detoxify and restore a healthy status quo to the body.  What does bathing in Dead Sea salt do? 1. It’s deeply hydrating Dead Sea salt is naturally rich in magnesium and calcium which have the unique ability to attract and hold water, helping to banish dry skin. Scientists call these minerals “natural moisturising factors” because of the way they support the skin’s hydration balance. According to a study published in 2005, bathing in a solution of 5% Dead Sea salt improves skin hydration, reduces redness and roughness, and enhances the skin barrier. 2. It cleanses and exfoliates Thanks to sulphurs’ natural antibacterial properties, Dead Sea salt is great for cleaning the surface of the skin. Sulphur has been proven to combat an array of skin conditions including acne because of its antimicrobial properties. It’s also hailed for its exfoliating properties; the mineral works by removing dead skin cells, which contribute to skin roughness, clogged pores, and blemishes, to reveal a fresh layer of unblemished skin. 3. It promotes smoother, more youthful Skin The Dead Sea is renowned as nature’s fountain of youth. Dead Sea salt is loaded with minerals like Silica, Zinc and Calcium that boost your skin’s vitality and slow the ageing process. The minerals help fight off oxidation in skin cells by eliminating free radicals, helping your skin look younger, radiant and more vibrant. Research showed the skin smoothing effects of Dead Sea minerals in a study which measured skin roughness. They found that a Dead Sea mineral solution reduced skin roughness by an average of more than 40% compared with a placebo and a commercially prepared anti-wrinkle gel which reduced skin roughness by 10% and 27% respectively. 4. It has skin healing properties A soothing Dead Sea salt bath can work wonders for people who suffer from dry, sensitive, and itchy skin. Bathing in Dead Sea salt can help remove scaly skin and decrease bothersome itching. 5. It soothes sore muscles A warm, long soak in Dead Sea salt water is a wonderful way to relax, unwind, and sooth those aching joints and muscles. Bromide helps ease muscle cramps, while the anti-inflammatory and detoxifying agents help reduce joint swelling, soreness and stiffness. Soaking in a Dead Sea salt bath before bed can also promote better sleep. How to take a Dead Sea salt bath? Add a 1/4 cup of Dead Sea salt into warm running bath water to experience the natural skin healing benefits of Dead Sea salt. How long should you soak in a Dead Sea salt bath? Soak for 10 to 20 minutes and let the Dead Sea salt work its magic. When you’ve finished soaking, dry off and apply a moisturiser to your skin. How often should you have a Dead Sea salt bath? For general skin health consider adding Dead Sea salt to your bath regularly. If you have extremely dry or sensitive skin, you might find using Dead Sea salt once or twice per week works better for you. Unravelling the Mystery: The Difference between Dead Sea Salts and Epsom Salts, and their phenomenal Benefits

by Heide Frljak on May 31 2023
Hi there! As a seasoned expert in therapeutic salts, I am thrilled to dive deep into two of the most potent minerals on Earth—Dead Sea Salts and Epsom Salts. I've spent years exploring their incredible benefits, and today, I'm here to explain the distinct characteristics that make each unique, all the while highlighting their numerous health benefits. At first glance, "Dead Sea Salts" and "Epsom Salts" might seem similar, but their composition, origins, and benefits differ significantly. Let's embark on this salty journey together, shedding light on the spectacular world of these miraculous minerals. Firstly, Dead Sea Salts hail from—you guessed it—the Dead Sea. Nestled between Jordan and Israel, the Dead Sea offers an extraordinary mineral blend nowhere else to be found. Unlike typical sea salt, Dead Sea Salts are mineral-rich, boasting a high concentration of magnesium, potassium, calcium, and bromides. But why should you worry about these minerals? Well, these natural elements play a crucial role in our health. Magnesium, for instance, is known for its stress-reducing properties, while calcium can help cleanse pores and improve circulation. Meanwhile, potassium energises the body, and bromides soothe skin, muscles, and joints. That's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the endless benefits of Pure Dead Sea Salts! Now, let's talk about Epsom Salts. Despite their name, Epsom Salts are not technically salt, but a naturally occurring pure mineral compound of magnesium and sulphate. They get their name from a saline spring in Epsom, England. Epsom Salts have earned a solid reputation in the health and wellness industry. The magic lies in the high concentration of magnesium and sulphate—both easily absorbed through the skin. Magnesium helps reduce inflammation, aids muscle and nerve function, and prevents arterial hardening. Sulphates assist in flushing toxins, improving absorption of nutrients, and soothes migraine headaches. Although both Dead Sea Salts and Epsom Salts contain beneficial minerals, their applications and impacts on health vary. Dead Sea Salts excel in skincare, aiding in conditions like psoriasis and acne, while also promoting relaxation and stress relief. Epsom Salts, on the other hand, shine as a natural remedy for muscle soreness and inflammation, and as a laxative in medical use. To conclude;  both Dead Sea Salts and Epsom Salts are precious gifts from nature that bring forth amazing health benefits. Whether you are indulging in a rejuvenating bath, seeking relief from skin ailments, or looking to soothe sore muscles, these salts are your best companions.

Difference between Epsom Salts and Magnesium Flakes

by Heide Frljak on May 23 2023
Epsom salt and magnesium flakes are both sources of magnesium that can be used for various health and wellness purposes, but they differ in their chemical composition and properties. Epsom salt, also known as magnesium sulphate, is a natural mineral compound made up of magnesium, sulphur, and oxygen. It is commonly used in bath salts, foot soaks, and other spa treatments due to its ability to soothe sore muscles, reduce inflammation, and promote relaxation. Magnesium flakes, on the other hand, are pure magnesium chloride flakes that are derived from evaporated sea water. Unlike Epsom salt, magnesium flakes do not contain sulphur, and they are easily absorbed by our bodies. Magnesium flakes can be used in bath soaks, foot soaks, and other topical applications to improve skin health, relieve muscle tension, and promote relaxation. Overall, both Epsom salt and magnesium flakes are beneficial sources of magnesium that can be used to support and improve overall health and wellness. The choice between the two may depend on personal preference, availability, and specific health needs, conditions and concerns. Pharmaceutical grade Epsom salt and harvested Epsom salt differ in their purity and quality. Pharmaceutical grade Epsom salt is a highly pure form of magnesium sulphate that is manufactured under strict quality control standards to ensure it meets the requirements for use in pharmaceutical and medical applications. It is free of contaminants and heavy metals, and its composition is consistent from batch to batch. Pharmaceutical grade Epsom salt is used in medical treatments, such as intravenous injections, and is also used in certain cosmetic and personal care products. Pure harvested Epsom salt, on the other hand, is a naturally occurring mineral compound that is sourced underground. It may contain impurities and contaminants, and its composition can vary depending on the source and processing methods. Harvested Epsom salt may be used for general purposes, such as in bath salts and foot soaks, however, this is not recommended for use in medical or pharmaceutical applications due to its lower purity. In summary, pharmaceutical grade Epsom salt is a highly pure form of magnesium sulphate that is suitable for use in medical and pharmaceutical applications, while harvested Epsom salt is a naturally occurring mineral compound that may contain impurities and is generally used for general purposes.

Why You Need to Take an Epsom Salts Bath

by Heide Frljak on May 08 2023
You are jet-lagged and exhausted, or you pulled a muscle lifting weights at the gym. Your skin won't stop itching. Or maybe your arthritis and eczema is acting up. Is there anything you can do, besides wait it out? Your grandma could have the answer. Epsom salts have been used for hundreds of years to ease all kinds of aches, pains, and skin troubles. A simple soak in the tub may help you feel better. What Are They? Despite the name, Epsom salts aren't like the stuff you put on your fries. They're called salts because of their chemical structure. The "Epsom" part is a place in England where they're found in natural springs. You can find them in most pharmacies usually around the panado and laxatives. Many grocery and natural food stores also carry them. A large box costs just a few rands They're not the same as Dead Sea salts, a blend of minerals found only in the Dead Sea in the Middle East. The water and light there supposedly help with skin diseases, arthritis, and other health problems. Epsom salts are also different from fancy bath crystals. They may not be made from the same chemicals. Plus they often have oils, colors, and perfumes to relax you and soften your skin. How Do They Work? In water, they break down into magnesium and sulphate. The theory is that when you soak in an Epsom salts bath, these get into your body through your skin. That hasn't been proven, but just soaking in warm water can help relax muscles and loosen stiff joints. People use Epsom salts baths as a home treatment for: Arthritis pain and swelling Bruises and sprains Fibromyalgia, a condition that makes your muscles, ligaments, and tendons hurt, and causes tender points throughout your body Ingrown toenails Insomnia Psoriasis, a disease that causes red, itchy, scaly skin Sore muscles after working out Soreness from diarrhoea during chemotherapy Sunburn pain and redness Tired, swollen feet While there are plenty of folk remedy claims, there aren't a lot of studies to back them up. Taking this type of bath probably won't hurt you, but if you have health concerns, check with your doctor first. How to Take an Epsom Salts Bath The water should be very warm -- not hot, but comfortable to the touch. Add the Epsom salts while the water is running to help them dissolve. For a standard-sized tub, use the amount suggested on the package, usually 1 to 2 cups, or the amount recommended by your doctor. Don't use Epsom salts in a hot tub, whirlpool, or other tub with jets unless the manufacturer says it's OK. Keep the part of your body that hurts in the water for at least 20 minutes. Just relax. Check with your doctor about how long and how often you should soak. You may need to do it just once for an ingrown toenail, or every day if you have arthritis pain.
